Start Time: 3:30pm I Finish Time: 4:30pm

About AFCM Illuminates: Take the time to enrich your mind with presentations from leading speakers in the fields of music and science. AFCM combines lecture and performance for a deep dive like no other.

Ray Golding Sunset Series 6- Distant Beloved
Start Time: 5:00 pm I Finish Time: 6:00pm I Doors Open: 4:40pm
The concert begins with Beethoven’s only song cycle, A die ferne Geliebte (To the far away beloved) [sung in Jeremy Sams’ expert English translation]. Roderick then provides the music for the beloved’s response, set to words by poet Rommi Smith. At last, Beethoven’s title character finally has the chance to give her side of the story in this world premiere of Roderick’s song cycle.
About the Ray Golding Sunset Series: Named after the founder of the Festival, these one-hour concerts are a terrific starting point for newcomers as well as a chance for those who know their music well to hear favourite works.
TICKETS FRIEND: $60 ADULT: $65 CONCESSION: $62 STUDENT/UNDER 30: $30
Subscription Information: This concert is included in Gold and Gold Plus Subscriptions and is eligible for selection as part of a Silver or Silver Plus Subscription.

AFCM 2024 Closing Concert - Festival Farewell
Start Time: 7:30pm I Finish Time: 9:45pm I Doors Open: 7:10pm I Interval: 15 Min
Here, not only do we bid farewell to our Festival for another year, but we also to the Goldner String Quartet for their final time at AFCM. We begin the concert with a very special arrangement of Bach Concerto BWV 1053r for vibraphone and strings. This is followed, rather fittingly at this troubling time, by Ruth Schonthal's A Bird Flew Over Jerusalem in which she imagines a humanized bird flying over the city, listening aghast to the sound of the incomprehensible suffering humans inflict on each other down below. To liven things up, this will be followed by a joyous Mendelssohn String Sinfonia, some beautiful Ibert for winds and to fittingly celebrate the Goldners, they will finish the festival with Tchaikovsky's truly breath-taking String Quartet No.1.
TICKETS FRIEND: $89 ADULT: $98 CONCESSION: $93 STUDENT/UNDER 30: $30
Subscription Information: This concert is included in Gold and Gold Plus Subscriptions and is eligible for selection as part of a Silver or Silver Plus Subscription.
