For 30 years, the Australian Festival of Chamber Music's AFCM Pathways programs (formerly AFCM Winterschool) have helped set young Australian musicians on the pathway to career success by providing the crucial link between training and professional practice. We're proud of this legacy, and these programs are highly regarded for their quality and impact, but rising program costs mean too many promising applicants miss out each year.

Why support AFCM Pathways?
Talented young musicians across Australia face a critical gap early in their professional lives. They have passion, potential, and years of dedicated training in their chosen instrument, but lack access to the networks, mentors and additional skills they need to confidently take their careers to the next stage.
The Australian Festival of Chamber Music helps bridge this gap through its AFCM Pathways International Masterclasses, an immersive 2-week program of structured, personalised support, tutoring, and performance opportunities with some of the world's best musicians. To further develop the skills essential to a musician's toolbox, participants also take part in the AFCM Pathways Outreach touring program, visiting and delivering workshops to regional school students across north Queensland and playing free concerts for regional communities, fully supported along the way by AFCM's team of experienced production staff and mentors.
Your tax-deductible donation today ensures more regional students can benefit from hands-on musical experiences in schools, and more emerging artists can access support and mentorship to launch their careers.
Over the years, AFCM Pathways alumni have gone on to enjoy thriving careers as musicians and educators in Australia and around the world. We are proud of this legacy, but what excites us most each year is meeting the students in regional Queensland schools, some of whom are discovering chamber music for the first time when we bring AFCM Pathways Outreach into their schools.
