Australian Festival of Chamber Music moves to Cairns in 2026
24 JULY – 1 AUGUST 2026
Join us as we enter a new era for AFCM - one that embraces growth, increased access, expanded programs and new and wonderful experiences - all whilst continuing to honour the spirit, warmth, community and exceptional music created over the past 35 years!.
Cairns is known as the "Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef" and for its proximity to the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. It is a popular destination for amazing experiences, for exploring wonderful natural attractions such as the reef and rainforest, cultural adventures, stunning beaches and wonderful activities in and around the city.
Cairns has fantastic access via its international airport, with direct flights from all major Australian cities and from multiple international countries including New Zealand, China, Singapore and Japan.
A Festival Precinct will be created in Cairns for the two weeks of AFCM. All Festival venues, accommodation, cafes and restaurants are within walking distance of each other. We are currently confirming accommodation providers, restaurant events, tourism experiences and more.
