Cairns is famous for being the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest, both UNESCO World Heritage sites. It is a popular destination for nature, culture and adventure enthusiasts whilst also boasting a vibrant city atmosphere and stunning beaches and islands.
Some sights to see include:
- Tropical Island - skip across to Green Island, Fitzroy Island or the luxurious Lizard Island
- Northern Beaches - visit the beautiful beaches of Palm Cove, Trinity Beach and Clifton Beach
- Port Douglas - take a leisurely and spectacular 45 minute coastal drive up from Cairns
- Kuranda - enjoy the scenic railway or cable car ride up to this delightful town in the rainforest
- Atherton Tablelands - experience this highland region full of heritage charm and natural beauty
There's so many magical experiences, so be sure to arrive early or stay on after AFCM to enjoy the scenery!
