​Leon Bosch conducts chamber and symphonic ensembles worldwide and is among the few double bassiststodirect concertos from the instrument. After 30 years performing with leading groups including the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and the Hallé, he transitioned to conducting in 2015, studying in St Petersburg with Alexander Polishchuk. He has since led orchestras across Europe, Africa and Asia. A champion of neglected repertoire, he has recorded20solo CDs and commissioned numerous new works.Professor of Double Bass at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London, Leon also mentors young musicians and foundedI Musicanti and the Ubuntu Ensemble and he is the recipient of the Cobbett Medal 2024for Services to the Art of Chamber Music.
