Stefanie Farrands is principal violist of the Australian Chamber Orchestra and an internationally active soloist, chamber musician and orchestral leader. Formerly Principal Violist of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, she has performed with leading ensembles including the Berlin Philharmonic, Chamber Orchestra of Europe and Camerata Salzburg, and as guest principal across Europe and Australia. Stefanie has appeared as soloist with major Australian orchestras and is a committed advocate for new music, commissioning and premiering numerous works for viola. A founding member of the award-winning Hamer Quartet,she records regularly and has taught and given masterclasses both in Australia and abroad.
