Stefan Dohr is celebrated for a horn sound of extraordinary power and refinement, praised for its thundering resonance and delicate, distant lyricism. A leading soloist, chamber musician and principal horn of the Berliner Philharmoniker since 1993, he is a central figure in the international horn world. His repertoire spans Classical and Romantic masterworks and contemporary music, including world premieres by Toshio Hosokawa and Hans Abrahamsen. Born in Münster, he studied in Essen and Cologne, has held principal positions across Europe and teaches internationally.
