Kees Boersma is a versatile musician whose career encompasses orchestral leadership, teaching, solo performance and chamber music. He is principal double bassist of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and lecturer at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Since joining the SSO, he has been active in premiering new works, including concertos by Colin Bright and Mary Finsterer, the latter receiving an APRA nomination. A regular festival artist, he is a founding member of the Australian World Orchestra and a guest principal internationally. His interests also include historically informed performance.
