AFCM OUTREACH PROGRAM

AFCM Outreach Program

The AFCM Outreach Program provides opportunities for an emerging ensemble to give concerts and create a profile throughout the Festival. Through a series of workshops and performances at local secondary schools and theatres in the region, and led by AFCM Winterschool Director Lloyd van’t Hoff, the 2024 AFCM Outreach Program will feature the 2024 Fellowship Ensemble, Zaza Road Quartet.

Throughout July and August 2024, Lloyd and the Zaza Road Quartet will perform at the World Theatre in Charters Towers, Tyto Amphitheatre in Ingham, the Burdekin Theatre in Ayr and at James Cook University plus special performances on the AFCM Festival Main Stage.

The AFCM Outreach Program performers also hold workshops at secondary schools throughout the region, which in the past included All Souls St Gabriels School, Ayr State High School, Blackheath & Thornburgh College, Charters Towers State School, Columba Catholic College, St Patrick's College, Cathedral School, Pimlico High School and Townsville Grammar School, where they have mentored, inspired and talked to students.

Dates for the AFCM Outreach Program concerts are:

  • 4pm Sunday 21st for TYTO Wetlands, Ingham
  • 6pm Monday 22nd July for Burdekin Theatre, Ayr
  • 1pm Wednesday 24th July for World Theatre, Charters Towers
  • 5:30pm Thursday 25th July for James Cook University, Townsville-Gurambilbarra

The 2023 AFCM Fellowship Ensemble, the Felix Quartet, performed throughout the region during the AFCM 2023 Outreach Program tour, held before and throughout the 2023 Festival.

The 2024 AFCM Fellowship Ensemble, Zaza Road Quartet, attended the AFCM Winterschool International Masterclasses in 2023 and will be returning to tour the region.
