Festival Cancellation Message

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music, our team of staffers, volunteers, and most of all, our Artistic Director Kathryn Stott, and all the artists who were scheduled to perform at this year’s Festival, it is with great sadness that we have to announce the cancellation of this year’s Festival, scheduled from July 23rd to August 1st.

We are hopeful that Winterschool and the Queens Garden Concert can still proceed, but this is subject to confirmation.

We are disappointed to have to cancel for the second consecutive year, however due to the expanded Covid-related border restrictions announced today and ongoing lockdown situations in NSW and Victoria, there was no other option.

To all our ticketholders, Gold and Gold Plus subscribers, AFCM Friends, donors, supporters, sponsors, Government funding agencies who have stood by us, and in particular, the people of Townsville, whose resilience continues to inspire us - thank you for your support, your understanding, and your co-operation.

On a more positive note, we are extremely excited about the 2022 Festival and the program that incoming Artistic Director, Jack Liebeck has created. The dates for next year are 29 July to 6 August 2022. The program and a priority booking period will be announced to AFCM Friends later this year, and to the general public in February 2022. More on that later!

In the meantime, there is much work involved now in terms of processing all that needs to happen.

Ticket Refunds and Donations

If you purchased tickets we will be provide you with a full refund. Unfortunately we are unable to transfer your tickets to the 2022 Festival. If you have any questions, please email info@afcm.com.au and we will respond as soon as possible.

Please be patient while we process all refunds. The team at TicketShop are working remotely and are unfortunately short-staffed currently, so it may take up to 10 business days before you are contacted. If you had rolled over your tickets from 2019,Ticketshop will direct deposit your refund back into a nominated account. 

Perhaps you may consider donating all or some of your refund to the Festival so we can ensure the longevity of this great event? We can facilitate a donation of any percentage of your tickets or a fixed amount. Donations over $2 are fully tax deductible and you will receive a tax-deductible receipt. If you are in a position to donate any amount, please email info@afcm.com.au we would be extremely grateful. Thank you for your ongoing support.
