Bus Information

Festival Buses

There are two bus services that run during the festival. Please see below further information regarding cost and pick up points or click here for the timetables. A taxi costs approximately $15 from the CBD to the Theatre, phone 131 008. Hiring a car is also a great option while staying in Townsville with plenty of parking at the Townsville Civic Theatre. AFCM Gold Pass Bus

In 2017 Gold Pass holders who have paid for bus transfers can travel on the AFCM Gold Pass bus which commutes between the Townsville Civic Theatre and CBD accommodation according to the Gold Pass concert schedule. Gold Pass Holders will need to present their Gold Pass lanyard to the driver to use this service. Please see below the list of pick-up points. Departure times will be available in July on the AFCM website and in print during the Festival period from the Festival Information Booth and the Townsville Civic Theatre Box Office.

ROUTE 1 (Orange)
  • Stops opposite Aquarius on The Strand
  • Longboard bus stop on The Strand
  • Quest Hotel on Palmer Street

Ends - Townsville Civic Theatre

ROUTE 2 (Blue)
  • Stops opposite Quest on Eyre
  • Mariners North Holiday Apartments on The Strand
  • The Ville Resort – Casino (formerly Jupiters Townsville)
  • SeaLink Breakwater Ferry Terminal
  • QCWA (Denham Street)
  • Hotel Grand Chancellor Townsville (formerly Holiday Inn Flinders St Mall)

Please note: Families’ Concert, Currajong House Garden Party, Queens Gardens Concert, Concert Crawl, Falling in Love Again and transfers to SeaLink Breakwater Ferry Terminal for the Orpheus Island Concert are not included in the Gold Pass bus schedule.


Townsville City Council Civic Theatre Festival Bus Service

The Townsville City Council Civic Theatre Bus Service is provided for the Festival from Friday 28 July to Saturday 5 August 2017. Tickets are $5 per person per transfer and can be purchased from the driver. Please see below the list of concerts covered by this service and pick-up points for 2017.

Concert Conversations Series — commencing at 10:15am
Ray Golding Sunset Series — commencing at 5:00pm
Evening Series — commencing at 7:30pm
Families’ Concert — Saturday 05/08, 1:00pm

Queens Gardens Concert

The hugely popular Queens Gardens Free Concert is back on Sunday 30 July at 3pm. Please note parking is limited, so this year the Townsville City Council is running a park and ride bus service from Dean St to Queens Gardens and Queens Gardens to Dean St via the Strand & City from 1-6pm. Remember, there is no seating in the park so please bring your own picnic rug or fold-up chairs. Food and drink vans will be onsite and the music will be plentiful!

Park and Ride -  Sunday 30 July, 1pm-6pm
  • Dean Street Car Park Station exit to Rooney St, to Stanley Street stopping at entrance to Queens Gardens on Gregory Street
  • Queens Gardens Gregory Street Entrance stopping at The Strand Bus Stop located opposite the Seaview Hotel on the Strand
  • The Strand Bus Stop located opposite the Seaview Hotel along the Strand then to Flinders Street stopping at Bus Stop at front of Dynasty Restaurant
  • Bus Stop at front of Dynasty Restaurant then to Denham Street then stopping at Dean Street Car Park via Morey Street
