JOIN US IN 2021

23 JULY TO 01 AUGUST 2021

There is no doubt that this is the most unsettling, worrying and challenging time for everyone. With so much uncertainty globally, with so many lives lost, businesses crippled and personal stress and isolation, we hope that your connection to music keeps your spirits high.

The Australian Festival of Chamber Music has been committed to providing unique and transformative chamber music experiences in the tropical setting of Townsville, North Queensland for 30 years; and we are so pleased that the music will continue next year. Yes, we pause for this current year, but the music program curated by Artistic Director Kathryn Stott will now carry over to 10 magnificent days in 2021, from Friday 23 July to Sunday 1 August.

Where artist schedules permit, the line-up of musicians planned for 2020 will also now move to 2021, and we will present to you 45 of the finest musicians from around the world.

So join us next winter for 31 concerts and special events including the hugely popular morning concert conversations, the one-hour sunset series concerts, the full-length evening concerts and the educational and entertaining Winterschool masterclasses.

It really is a unique and magical experience that takes place in a tropical, relaxed and friendly location. We know you’ll be hooked from your very first visit!

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, KATHRYN STOTT

Kathryn has created a jam-packed program for the 30th Anniversary Festival. Her own love for music began at the age of five, making friends with the upright piano in her living room. At the age of eight she started at the Yehudi Menuhin School where her love for French music was ignited. In the 2021 Festival program, you will hear some French composers including Debussy, Ravel and Fauré (…the musical love of my life!”), some traditional music blended with contemporary and several new commissions and world premieres. It is a joyous potpourri encompassing the most celebrated chamber music repertoire ever written.

We do hope you will join us in 2021.
