Families Concert

The Australian Festival of Chamber Music invites all Townsville choirs, choristers and singers, to join the gleeful chorus for a presentation of:

This 40-minute cantata tells the story of Henry VIII’s battleship, The Mary Rose. It features arrangements of well-known tunes from Henry VIII’s time and sea shanties as well as a new composition to tell this dramatic tale.

Choirs of all ages and experience are welcome as an ensembleSingers are also to welcome to join as individuals. The Amadeus Singers (6 - 12 years) will form the Children’s Chorus for this work and new members are more than welcome. 

All singers will be provided with a score (deposit payable) and professionally recorded rehearsal tracks. All Participants will also receive one complimentary ticket for the performance. Additional tickets will be on sale for AFCM Members from 7 March and non-AFCM members from 4 April 2018 through the TickstShop.

For individual choristers
There are no auditions and no fee, everyone is welcome.

For enquiries on how to join the Amadeus Singers to be part of the children’s chorus, please visit their website https://www.amadeus-singers.com.au/. The Children’s Choir will have their own schedule of rehearsals and will join with the main choir at the General and Dress rehearsals.

Rehearsals for everyone
There will be two general rehearsals and a dress rehearsal with the musicians from the festival as follows:

General Rehearsal 1: Thursday 26 July, 5.00pm to 7.00pm, Venue TBC
General Rehearsal 2: Thursday 2 August 5.00pm to 7.00pm, Venue TBC
Dress Rehearsal/Sound Check: Saturday 4 August 10.00am - 12.00pm, Townsville Civic Theatre

The performance 
will take place during the festival: Saturday 4 August, 1.00pm – 2.00pm, Townsville Civic Theatre

Sores and recordings

Vocal scores on hire will be available in May (deposit payable). If you would like to start rehearsals earlier or if you like to have your own as a keepsake you can purchase your own copy. Here are two websites that sell the scores, or you can google for others: Boosey and Hawkes, Sheet Music Plus. Please ensure you order them in plenty of time. 

Professionally recorded rehearsal tracks (by voice) will be made available for free via a Dropbox link.

Tickets

All participants will receive one complimentary ticket for the performance. Additional tickets will be on sale for AFCM Members from 7 March and non-AFCM members on 4 April 2018 through the TickstShop.
