Justin Ankus - Executive Director

Justin joined the festival in August 2015. Justin came to the festival from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (University of Sydney) where he was the Manager of the Conservatorium Open Academy for the past 7 years. Prior to the Con he also worked with Musica Viva Australia and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.  He holds a Masters degree in Arts Management from the University of Technology Sydney. Outside of the festival, he is also an organist and choirmaster. When not involved in music, Justin can be found on the bowling green. Born and raised in Sydney, North Queensland has been a regular holiday destination and he is now delighted to call Townsville home and be part of this wonderful Townsville institution.

Rebecca Alferez - Artistic Administrator

Rebecca joins the team following six and half years as Program Coordinator for the highly successful Events Queensland Regional Development team. In this role Rebecca worked with a broad range of events across regional Queensland and is now looking forward to concentrating her energy into the AFCM. Rebecca has a degree in Journalism and public relations and has held government and non-government roles both in Brisbane and Townsville.

Sheridan Helft - Marketing Manager

Sheridan Helft is based in Melbourne as our Marketing Manager, and brings a wealth of experience to our organisation. Sheridan worked in marketing management for many years with several large companies including Diners Club, Citibank and Fairfax Media. Originally from Townsville, she brought her young family back for a seachange in 2011 and spent 12 months living in Townsville, which is when she came to work for us. Now back in Melbourne (her favourite city in Australia, besides Townsville of course!), Sheridan manages all of the Festival’s national advertising and publicity, making frequent visits back to Townsville. A perfect combination she says!

Amy Whebell - Marketing & Events Executive

Amy graduated from the Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Creative Industries - Interdisciplinary, majoring in Creative Industries Management, Music Studies and Performance Studies. Throughout her study, Amy worked closely with the Brisbane Festival, Youth Arts Queensland, the 2High Festival, Vena Cava's Fusion Festival and was appointed Events Coordinator for the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries. 2017 will be Amy's eighth Australian Festival of Chamber Music. Amy loves to sing, dance, act, compose music and has recently released her debut album "Sweet Out Of Sight". Future ambitions include living in Italy and writing a Broadway musical.
