After a decade in Germany performing internationally, violinist Doretta Balkizas returned to Australia to join the University of Queensland as Lecturer in Violin. She has performed with leading ensembles including the London Symphony Orchestra, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and Australian Chamber Orchestra, appearing across major venues and festivals worldwide. As a soloist, she has performed with orchestras in Australia and China, and received major competition accolades. A passionate chamber musician, she has appeared at festivals across Australia, Europe and the US. Doretta is also dedicated to education, working with the Australian Youth Orchestra and Musica Viva, and regularly adjudicating national competitions.
