Michael Goldschlager
Michael Goldschlager studied in New York with Bernard Greenhouse, of the Beaux Arts Trio, and with David Soyer of the Guarneri Quartet. In New
York, he performed with some of its greatest ensembles, including the Chamber
Music Society of Lincoln Center, and the Orchestra of St Luke's, of which he
was a principal cellist.
A principal and guest-principal cellist of many Australian orchestras, including the WASO, TSO, SSO and ACO, he has also led the cellos of The Australian World Orchestra under Zubin Mehta on international tours. He has performed at the Australian Festival of Chamber Music on six previous occasions, beginning with the first, in 1991.
Michael is the only Australian cellist to have recorded J.S. Bach’s Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello for ABC Classics/Universal and as the cellist of the Macquarie Trio, Michael amassed an extensive discography. Presently, he is the cellist of the West Australian Piano Trio.
